Check-ups

What is a general dental check‑up?

A general dental check up is a regular health review for your mouth. During your visit, your dentist carefully examines your teeth, gums and bite, and talks with you about how everything has been feeling day to day. They will also ask about lifestyle habits and any recent changes, from diet to smoking or vaping, that might be affecting your oral health.

Seen regularly (usually twice a year), these check‑ups help us spot small issues early, keep your smile feeling comfortable, and plan any care you may need before problems become more complex.

Benefits of frequent dental check-ups

1

Spot issues while they are still small

At each visit, your dentist carefully checks your teeth, gums and mouth so early signs of decay, gum disease or other changes are picked up before they turn into something more serious. Regular check‑ups mean most problems can be managed simply and comfortably, rather than needing urgent or complex treatment later on.
2

Fine‑tune your daily routine

Your check‑up is also a chance to review how your home care is working for you. Your dentist can highlight any areas you are missing, suggest products that suit your mouth, and show you small tweaks that make a big difference over time. This keeps your mouth healthier day to day and reduces the risk of future issues.
3

Protect your smile – and your wallet

By catching and treating problems early, frequent check‑ups help you avoid bigger procedures, unwanted surprises and the higher costs that come with them. Investing in regular visits is one of the simplest ways to look after your smile, your comfort and your long‑term budget.
