Dentures

What are dentures?

Dentures are custom‑made replacement teeth that restore the look and function of your smile when natural teeth are missing. Designed to blend with your gums and remaining teeth, they help you eat, speak and smile with confidence again, and can be removed for easy cleaning and care.

The art of dentures

At Dental Art, we create dentures that are shaped specifically for you. Depending on how many teeth you are missing, we may recommend:

  • Partial dentures to fill the gaps when you still have some natural teeth in place
  • Full dentures to replace a complete arch of missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw

Your clinician will guide you through the options and help you choose the style that feels most comfortable, secure and natural for your everyday life.

A practical guide and frequently asked questions

What are partial dentures?

Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth when you still have natural teeth in place. They close the gaps so you can chew, speak and smile more comfortably.

What are full dentures?

Full dentures replace all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. Wherever possible, we will always look to preserve healthy natural teeth before recommending a full denture.

How long does denture treatment take?

In most cases, dentures can be fitted around 8 weeks after tooth removal, once your gums have healed.

Are temporary dentures available?

Yes. Instant (temporary) dentures can be placed on the same day as your extraction. They protect the healing gums, reduce bleeding and mean you do not have to go without teeth while your final dentures are being made.

What do I need to do after denture treatment?

Your new dentures may need small adjustments as your mouth settles, so we will arrange follow‑up check‑ups. Once your gums have fully healed, we can fit your final dentures for long‑term comfort and stability. Many patients choose to keep their temporary denture as a spare, in case they ever need a back‑up.

Suggestions for loose or unstable dentures

If your current dentures feel loose, we may recommend implant‑supported dentures for added security. These clip onto dental implants placed in the jaw, giving far greater stability than standard dentures.

What is an alternative to dentures?

A popular alternative to traditional dentures is a full mouth restoration with dental implants. This involves placing multiple implants in the jawbone to support a fixed bridge of teeth, giving you a stable, natural‑looking smile that stays in place. Unlike removable dentures, implant‑supported teeth do not slip or rub, make it easier to eat and speak confidently, and help preserve your jawbone by replacing the tooth roots as well as the crowns. Your dentist will assess your oral health, bone levels, and treatment goals to confirm if a full mouth implant restoration is the right option for you.
